The learning objectives for this module are designed to directly reflect the MCCQE learning objectives for Health of Special Populations (78-7), specifically as they apply to people experiencing homelessness in Canada. The objectives embody the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada.

- Understand the connection between health, housing and poverty;
- Understand various social determinants of health and their impact on the health and well-being of persons experiencing homelessness;
- Recognize the unique roles of government, social agencies, health service providers and special groups in providing services to persons experiencing homelessness and under-housing;
- Discuss how to provide culturally-appropriate care for persons experiencing homelessness;
- Identify challenges in providing preventive and curative health services to homeless persons and possible ways to address these challenges;
- Discuss major personal and public health risks associated with homelessness;
- Identify tools and methods that health service providers can use to advocate for and improve the health of persons experiencing homelessness in Canada.
